It’s been a while since our last blog update, due in part to Jeremy & Sarah working hard on building up a new source of full-time income as they await the outcome of their court trial against Metropolis Minneapolis LLC, Space Unlimited LLC, and the landlord-owners (view the full civil complaint here).
If you’d like to know more about what Jeremy & Sarah are up to nowadays during this interim period, please visit their websites…
- We have a trial block! We don’t yet have a specific trial date, but we do know it’ll be sometime in September. And we’ve been assigned a judge.
- Right now we’re in the midst of the discovery phase of the lawsuit, which includes depositions and compiling a variety of trial-ready evidence. The discovery phase ends March 31st.
- On May 3rd we’ll be entering into a court appointed mediation with the landlords. This is a last ditch effort to settle the case before it goes to trial. We actually had a previous mediation shortly after we moved out at the end of August, but that mediation was related to the landlords’ eviction action. Nothing came of that mediation effort, but the eviction action was subsequently dismissed by the housing court. Since this lawsuit is a new legal action in the court system, another mediation is required.
- This is a long process, but our hopes remain high and we remain steadfast in our resolve to press forward. But we couldn’t do it without our heroic pro bono attorneys at Eckland & Blando. Mark Blando and Gregory Singleton are going above and beyond to achieve justice for OWT. We’re endlessly grateful for their support and we ask you to please keep them (and our lawsuit) in your prayers.
If you haven’t done so already, please sign our Petition to the City of Minneapolis.
